Do you have an excellent doctoral student from an underrepresented minority (including race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, economic status, and nationality) who will graduate this year or who has completed his/her degree in the last 3 years, or are YOU such a student? Penn has developed a postdoctoral fellowship for academic diversity, which will provide up to 3 years of support at a good level. Students apply to work with specific mentors.
Jacques Barber of Penn Psychiatry’s Center for Psychotherapy Research and Dianne Chambless of Penn Psychology would be interested in mentoring a postdoctoral student who would like to work with them on their research comparing three forms of psychotherapy for panic disorder (CBT, applied relaxation, and panic-focused psychodynamic psychotherapy). In addition, there would be opportunities to work with data sets and archived session recordings from Jacques Barber’s recently completed comparative trial of psychodynamic psychotherapy vs. pharmacotherapy for treatment of depression and to obtain supervised clinical experience in conducting couple treatment for anxiety disorders with Dianne Chambless.
Time is short, as applications are due to the university no later than August 2, 2010. Before applying to the university, candidates interested in this opportunity should first communicate with both Drs. Barber and Chambless. By July 19, 2010 they should e-mail a c.v. and letter of describing their interest in the postdoc as quickly as possible to determine whether there seems to be a good fit between the candidate’s interests and those of the research team.
