First of all, my apologies for technical problems which meant that some of you were sent an old newsletter.

This newsletter appears in English because it is also being sent to the participants of the first European Conference on Systemic Research in Therapy, Education and Organizational Development, held in Heidelberg, Germany, March 6-8, 2014.

The first European Conference on Systemic Research in Therapy, Education and Organizational Development took place in Heidelberg, Germany, March 6-8, 2014. More than 300 participants from 23 European countries and the US attended, listening to six key note addresses, 24 symposia, 14 workshops, three poster sessions and several discussion panels. The congress was organized by the Institute of Medical Psychology of Heidelberg University Hospital (Congress Presidents: Prof. Dr. Jochen Schweitzer, Prof. Dr. Matthias Ochs). Cooperation partners were the European Family Therapy Association (EFTA) (President: Prof. Dr. Maria Borcsa; Head of Research Committee: Prof. Dr. Peter Stratton), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Systemische Therapie, Beratung und Familientherapie (DGSF) and the Helm Stierlin Insitut Heidelberg (HSI). Funding was provided by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), the Heidehofstiftung Stuttgart, the DGSF and the Systemische Gesellschaft (SG).

Validation study for the EVOS (Evaluation von sozialen Systemen) instrument

You can give your input to help develop a very important new questionnaire for the evaluation of social systems (EVOS), developed by Dr. Corina Raab-Aguilar from the Heidelberg University Hospital. For more information see here

Evaluation of systemic therapy by the German health care self-administration body

Systemic psychotherapy for adults is currently under study by the Gemeinsamer Bundesausschuss, an important German healthcare self-administration institution. The two German systemic associations (DGSF, SG) have prepared an expert report for this evaluation process which you can read here.

Two excellent systemic research conventions with long(er) traditions in the German-speaking countries

This year, Prof. Günter Schiepek will once again be holding a very interesting summer school (Oct. 1-3) in the beautiful Abbey of Seeon in the south of Germany, investigating on an advanced scientific level the implications of self-organization theories on human change processes. In 2015, Prof. Wolfgang Tschacher will be hosting (March 26 – 28) the 18th Herbstakademie in Heidelberg, this time with the topic “The Circularity of Mind and Body”. For more information see here.
